Quality Engineer  – Rome, GA 

An established manufacturer of automotive parts is looking for a talented Engineer to join its world class team in supporting superior quality and delivering excellent products in a safety conscious work environment. Plant is located in the Rome, GA area. The plant is ISO 9001:2008 certified.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support  and resources concerning quality issues such as capability, tolerances and materials to assure quality consistency throughout production
  • Identify quality problems, determine and evaluate alternative solutions and implement action plans
  • Ensure that new and existing customer requirements are maintained throughout the manufacturing process
  • Assist in implementing 5S principles within specific product lines to improve footprint of product and reduce waste while ensuring adherence to customer requirements
  • Perform internal audits for existing ISO 9001:2008 certification 
  • Aid in developing and facilitating Internal Auditor Training for new and incumbent employees
  • Utilizes SPC (Statistical Process Control), fish bone analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, PPAP and Control Plans in order to assure quality processes and effective problem resolution
  • Consolidate test data to support PPAP development specifications
  • Investigate product inconsistencies, and qualify changes in manufacturing process(es). PFMEA and Control Plan
  • Perform Supplier/Vendor Certification Audits to ensure compliance to required regulations
  • Develop value stream mapping to assure alignment of quality and product objectives of our customers and suppliers
  • Assist in analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating new processes and equipment for new products

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, industrial engineering or related field required.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years’ related experience required.
  • Automotive industry experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office)
  • Good coaching and feedback skills, and excellent communication (listening, verbal, and written). 
  • Must be hands-on

Custom steel manufacturer seeks a talented QA Supervisor for its plant located in the Rome, GA area. Key focus for this role is to evaluates, plans and administers the quality assurance system. This includes standardization and control plan functions that ensure product reliability and conformance to print specifications, customer and company quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct the quality functions and activities in support of company goals and objectives and customers’ requirements.
  • Plan, develop and implements standardization and control plans to meet internal and customer needs.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate procedures in auditing, testing, documentation and other quality assurance related areas.
  • Perform daily rounds inspection of entire manufacturing operation.
  • Specify and purchase measuring tools and gauging materials.
  • Confer with engineering and manufacturing to resolve problems with product design, specifications, materials, tooling, procedures or processes affecting quality.
  • Communicate with and/or visits customers and suppliers to discuss specific quality problems, maintain good customer relations.
  • Conduct technical investigations to resolve customer complaints and return issues.
  • Oversee the calibration of tools and gauges.
  • Analyze company quality data and reports to managers and executives.
  • Develop corrective/preventative action procedures and works with production to implement and monitor the effectiveness of CAR’s.
  • Initiate and supervise the quality training program.
  • Provide technical assistance to purchasing, engineering and manufacturing in connection with the purchase of parts/materials, supplies, and inspection and/or test equipment.
  • Perform all duties following established safety procedures and guidelines using assigned safety equipment.
  • Supervise assigned staff.

 Education AND Experience:

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering with training in quality and statistics or equivalent job knowledge of theory, combined with experience, is required to qualify for the position. 

 Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must know quality systems including: ISO 9000, quality systems theory and quality auditing procedures/systems. 
  • Skilled in the use of all test lab equipment including: CMM and precision measuring instruments. 
  • Possess fundamental mechanical engineering knowledge and have engineering drawing and interpretation skills. 
  • Must understand quality planning, reliability analysis and planning, statistical measurements systems analysis, and design assurance. 
  • Must have computer skills; proficiency with Excel, AX, PowerPoint and Outlook are strongly preferred.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
